BIOGRAPHY

Rodger Bartlett was born in Sydney in 1944. He first attended painting classes at the John Ogburn Studio in 1967 while studying architecture at the University of Sydney. Following his marriage to Pia in 1970 he left the Studio for several years while travelling, working and studying overseas. When he returned to Australia he was drawn back to the Studio through his desire to become more involved with painting and John Ogburn’s unique approach to teaching painting and drawing. Rodger is a regular exhibitor at the Harrington Street Gallery and a gallery director.

“The John Ogburn Studio remains a source of inspiration for my painting. John has taught me the importance of seeing for myself and has given me the knowledge and inspiration to enable me to express myself. Being engaged in painting has made mefreer, by responding to each painting’s need to become itself.”
