BIOGRAPHY

Born in Young, NSW in 1956, Jon lived in Boorowa until age five when his parents moved to Sydney. On completing his formal schooling at St. Augustine’s, Brookvale, he enrolled with Julian Ashton’s art school, followed by a year with Brian Blanchard in Redfern.

He attended the John Ogburn Studio for many years and is a member of the Harrington Street Gallery where he has exhibited since 1982.

“My real education began through painting at Mr. Ogburn’s studio, giving me the opportunity to be courageous and inventive and helping liberate me from habit and presumption. Through painting I’ve become more responsive to the beauty and ugliness surrounding me.
Through the HSG I’ve seen what goodwill and good work achieve and am privileged to be part of this family.”
