BIOGRAPHY

Carolyn was born in Manly in 1941, and is grateful for having spent her early years in sucha beautiful place. She went to school there, andreturns whenever she can. Told about the Sculpture course at East Sydney Technical College, she became a part-time student there in the early 1960’s, where she made lifelong friends. The mother of one of these friends introduced her to the John Ogburn Studio in 1967, after she had returned from a year and a half overseas. Carolyn left the Studio for eighteen years while bringing up her son, but in 1987 was drawn back to the Studio by the memory of John Ogburn’s unique teaching methods and approach to painting. She has exhibited at The Gallery since then, and counts herself extremely lucky to have found such an oasis.

“Painting is such a positive thing, there are endless possibilities, it is hopeful, and if sincere, an honesty to nourish the soul. Painting is a language for all of us to understand. It keeps me sane.”
